The 75th
GPCA National Specialty and 4th
World Conference are now over.
If you were able to
have been with us in Lancaster, we hope that you had as
much fun as we did. The weather in Pennsylvania was warm
and mostly sunny. We toured Washington, Philadelphia and
the Amish country; we met a lot of new friends; exchanged
ideas on a number of topics; tried some new ways of doing
things; and were surrounded by magnificent dogs. What more
could anyone have asked for?
However, this week
long celebration could not have happened without three
major ingredients:
-
Committee
Workers – these people did a truly fantastic job
of handling all the arrangements and doing all the
behind-the-scenes work that made everything happen.
There are too many to try to name them all, but we
want to give special thanks to:
-
Jeff &
Moya Lateer who arranged the Kick-off party in
California;
-
Dianne
Migas who ran the Specialty/World Conference
website;
-
Jim
Delaney who received all the orders, produced
the badges/tickets, provided the many print-out
sheets of who signed-up for what, and gave us
alphabetized envelopes for each registrant;
-
Ellie
Schultz and her trusty side-kick, Beth Ott
(who was attending her first National), for all of
the food arrangements and table decorations;
-
Erina
Fitzgerald for setting up PayPal and the
credit card system and for keeping the books;
-
Nancy
Coombs for arranging and hosting the tours;
-
Amy
Zacher for heading the registration desk crew;
-
Rick
Fitzgerald and Bret Zacher for their
hours of back-breaking grounds work setting things
up and taking them down again;
-
Carrie
Stuart Parks for creating and donating her art
work;
-
Roland
Trinka for producing the 18 month calendar;
-
Betty Jo
Patrick for being our friendly and efficient
ring steward;
-
Sue Cole
for her creative promotional work and help with
the Premium list;
-
Dwain
Butler for his hours of security work and help
at the Expo Center;
-
Valerie
Brown for hosting our judges and keeping them
out of trouble;
-
Jo
Stubbs for her work with Obedience and Rally;
-
Everyone
else who helped put on this wonderful week of
celebration.
2. The generosity
of the many regional clubs and GPCA members who
made special donations of baskets for the competition,
items for the auction and cash to help fund the World
Conference continental breakfasts and activities.
3. You for
attending! Despite the volcanic ash and sour economy, we
thank you for being here to celebrate our 75th
National Specialty and 4th
World Conference.
If you ordered
a marked catalog or purchased an item to be shipped, we
will have them in the mail soon.
Thank you all for
coming together in celebration of our beautiful Great
Pyrenees!
